Prior Learning Assessment (PLA)
John Dewey was an American philosopher and educator who founded the philosophical movement known as pragmatism which was based on the usefulness, workability, and practicality of learning (Thayer and Rosenthal, 2023). He was one of the biggest proponents of learning from experience. He also believed that informed and engaged inquiries were the best means of promoting human interest. For learners to retain knowledge and skills, learning from experience was paramount.
If you believe that learning counts no matter how you acquired it outside a traditional classroom, whether from self-study, open educational resources, travels, or professional training, APUS Prior Learning Assessment or PLA can assist in college-level potential credit hours earning for the program of your choice.
Please watch the PLA video for additional information.
