Historical Studies Honor Society

The Historical Studies Honor Society’s purpose is to recognize academic achievement among students and alumni in the history programs at the university, and to promote the study of history through extensive teaching, publication, and research. Through intellectual and social networking, this honor society promotes the exchange of ideas among like-minded members.

The society is a stand-alone honor society and is not affiliated with a national or international honor society.

Benefits include:

Academic recognition in the field of history; networking, research, and publication opportunities; and reading and the discussion of events with members.

Historical Studies Honor Society achieved PLATINUM standing per the university's Chapter Standards program. Platinum standing demonstrates a high level of chapter involvement and denotes excellence in chapter leadership and member engagement.

Campus leadership opportunities are a great way to meet other students, alumni, and faculty at the university while also developing skills in the areas of:

  • Leadership and teamwork

The Office of Student and Alumni Affairs is always looking for people to get involved and be campus leaders, including chapter officers, who lead student organizations like this one. Eligible students will receive an invitation during the months of January and July. If you believe you are eligible and do not receive an invitation, email [email protected].

Criteria:

General Membership

  • Active university student pursuing a graduate or undergraduate degree in history or military history; or minor in history or military history
  • Completed at least six semester hours at the undergraduate or graduate level
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.50 or greater
  • Has complied with university policies on academic integrity

Alumni Level Membership (In addition to the above General Membership Criteria)

  • Completed a degree program or minor in history or military history
